The super deluxe edition of the 1969 album consists of two
CDs, a blu-ray audio, a 2LP vinyl set and a bonus seven-inch
single. Like with last year's Music From Big Pink reissue, Bob
Clearmountain has created a new stereo mix of The Band
album and this features on the box is various places including
the first CD and the 2LP vinyl.
The first disc also features six previously unreleased bonus
tracks, while the seven studio bonus tracks previously issued
in 2000 are also included on the second CD after a Live at
The blu-ray audio includes a 5.1 surround sound mix and a hires stereo mix of the album (the latter is presumably the new
stereo mix). In addition the six bonus tracks from the first CD
are also included and mixed to 5.1.
The box concludes with a 2LP black vinyl pressing of The
Band, along with a seven-inch single that features ‘Rag Mama
Rag' b/w ‘The Unfaithful Servant'.
A 2LP black vinyl edition of the new stereo mix will also be
available, along with a 2CD deluxe that is effectively discs one
and two from the big box.
