Alex Crossan, also known by the stage name Mura Masa, is a Guernsey-born electronic music producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Like Jamie xx, or the early speeded-up-soul-sample Kanye West productions for Jay-Z, or the 21st-century pop-house of first-album-era Disclosure, you can hear Mura Masa a mile off. Named after a deranged Japanese swordsmith of the 16th century, the Guernsey native manages to combine cutting-edge club shivers with a welcoming warmth. What's emerged is ‘R.Y.C' (or ‘Raw Youth Collage') - an ambitious and exciting left-turn from an artist and producer whose ability to always surprise is matched only by his remarkably consistent, singular vision. Breathing new life into - amongst other things - New Wave, Emo, Folk and 90s Rave . Guests on the album include Slowthai and Cairo and more.
